Tottenham Not Title Contenders Yet — Thomas Frank Cautions Fans After Dominant Everton Win

Thomas Frank Tottenham Hotspur manager after Everton win Premier League 2025

Tottenham Hotspur may have climbed to third in the Premier League table after their 3-0 victory over Everton, but manager Thomas Frank has insisted that his team are not yet ready to challenge for the Premier League title.

Spurs’ win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium came courtesy of a first-half brace from Micky van de Venand a late strike from Pape Matar Sarr, making them the first team this season to defeat Everton at home. The victory also extends Tottenham’s impressive away record — they’ve earned 13 of their 17 total points on the road, the most by any club this season.

According to Frank, the result was encouraging but not enough to declare his team as title contenders. “We are in the beginning of building something. I’m very happy with a lot of things — the defensive side, the mentality, the set pieces,” Frank said during his post-match press conference. “But there’s still work to do offensively. It’s a long season, and I need to take it one game at a time.”

When pressed on whether Spurs could push for the title, Frank replied firmly: “No. There are probably a few teams ahead of us. I’m only thinking one game at a time. Let’s see where we are in April.”

Van de Ven, who scored twice from corners, now leads the club’s scoring charts with five goals in all competitions this season. Frank praised the Dutch defender for his leadership and growth. “He’s really growing and defending better — not only with pace but with smarter positioning. I told him before the season that he must score more headed goals, and he’s proving that now,” Frank added.

Tottenham’s next challenge will test their consistency, but for now, the North London club appears to be enjoying a steady rise under Frank’s disciplined management.
