Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Wednesday that AC Milan is now in direct negotiations with Boniface’s representatives over personal terms, marking the last step before the transfer can be finalized. “AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen preparing formal documents after verbal agreement for Victor Boniface. Loan deal with €30m buy option clause not mandatory. AC Milan now in direct talks with Victor Boniface’s agent over personal terms, key final step to get the deal done,” Romano posted on X.

The 24-year-old forward has already given his approval to Milan’s contract proposal, according to Romano. The development has come as a surprise since Milan’s pursuit of a new striker had reportedly focused on Rasmus Højlund and Dusan Vlahovic. However, behind the scenes, negotiations for Boniface had progressed quietly, with Sky Italia describing talks as “advanced” and optimism growing that an agreement could be reached swiftly.

Sources in Germany indicate that Leverkusen is considering Milan’s offer favorably, influenced by Boniface’s desire to move to Italy. Last season, Boniface scored 11 Bundesliga goals and contributed one assist for Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso. His pace, strength, and pressing style have convinced Milan that he is well-suited to spearhead their attack under manager Massimiliano Allegri.

If completed, the transfer would mark a strategic shift for AC Milan, who have struggled to secure their top striker targets. Boniface’s arrival could strengthen the Rossoneri’s frontline and provide a new attacking dimension as they aim to challenge for Serie A glory in the upcoming season.
