The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has accused operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of violating its corporate rights and trampling on human dignity during a controversial midnight raid.
According to OOPL’s Managing Director, Vitalis Ortese, more than fifty heavily armed EFCC personnel stormed the library’s Green Legacy Resort at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, August 10, in what they described as an operation targeting suspected internet fraudsters.

Ortese alleged that the operatives, led by an officer identified as “Olapade,” entered the premises without presenting a warrant, fired gunshots into the air, and disrupted a public event — the “Wet & Rave Splash” pool party — taking place at the hotel. Several guests reportedly sustained injuries in the ensuing chaos.
“The actions of the EFCC were nothing short of a Gestapo-style invasion. We are dealing with the infringement of corporate rights, an invasion of privacy, and a blatant violation of human rights,” Ortese told reporters in Abeokuta.
The EFCC, however, maintains that the operation was based on credible intelligence linking some party-goers to cybercrime activities.
OOPL’s management has rejected that explanation, stressing that the Ogun State Police Command had earlier given security clearance for the event and was not informed about the EFCC’s late-night incursion.
Ortese revealed that petitions have been sent to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS), demanding an official explanation and a public apology. He warned that legal action would follow if the demands were ignored.
