In a historic moment for Nigerian women’s football, the Federal Government hosted a glamorous Presidential dinner in Abuja on Monday night to celebrate the Super Falcons’ record 10th WAFCON title.

The event took place at the Transcorp Hilton, where President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu personally received the victorious team. The occasion was made even more vibrant with live musical performances by popular Nigerian artists Flavour, Teni, Timi Dakolo, and Fido.

According to official reports, the president conferred national honours on each player and rewarded them with $100,000 and three-bedroom apartments at the Renewed Hope Estate. Members of the technical team were also recognized with a cash gift of $50,000 each.

    The Super Falcons earned their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title after a dramatic 3–2 comeback win over host nation Morocco in the final held at the Stade Olympique in Rabat on Saturday, July 26.

    The celebration comes after weeks of praise from fans, sports enthusiasts, and dignitaries who have followed the team’s journey to continental glory. At the dinner, the First Lady praised the team for being role models for young girls across Nigeria.

    President Tinubu hailed their determination, stating, “The Super Falcons have shown Africa what Nigeria is made of. Their achievement is not just in football, but a victory for every Nigerian.”

    The Presidential dinner marks one of the most elaborate recognitions ever given to a Nigerian female sports team, reaffirming the nation’s support for women in sports.
