Governor Umo Eno Responds to Daughter’s Viral Video Allegations
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has addressed a resurfaced video featuring his daughter, Jane Eddidiong Ufot, in which she makes emotional allegations regarding her mother’s death.
Speaking during the birthday celebration of former Deputy Governor Obong Nsima Ekere in Uyo, Governor Eno described the video’s resurgence as a politically motivated attempt to tarnish his administration.
“We’re in political times, so you expect more of this. My family is intact—you can see everyone here. The video in question was recorded shortly after my wife passed away last year. So why is it resurfacing now, just as we’re marking our second anniversary and celebrating our achievements? It only confirms there are detractors,” he stated.
The governor emphasized the unity within his family, noting that Jane, who currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Health, Safety, and Environment, was present at the event with her husband.
In the video, Jane emotionally claimed that her mother was “sacrificed” and expressed fears for her own safety and that of her daughter.

Governor Eno appealed to the public to respect his family’s privacy and refrain from circulating the video, stating, “I remain focused and committed to serving the people of Akwa Ibom. I wouldn’t wish what happened to me on anyone. If those sharing this video wish the same for themselves, I wish them luck. But I believe even in politics, families should be off-limits.”
Mrs. Patience Eno, the governor’s wife, passed away peacefully at the hospital on September 26, 2024, after an undisclosed illness. Following her death, the governor appointed his eldest daughter, Mrs. Helen Obareki, to coordinate the Office of the First Lady and continue her mother’s initiatives.
