A Lagos-based teacher, Chukwunonso Okafor, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for the repeated sexual abuse of a three-year-old pupil in his care.
According to the court proceedings presided over by Justice Abiola Soladoye, the 25-year-old was found guilty on three counts involving sexual assault and child defilement. The offenses occurred between July and December 2022 in Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos State, where Okafor worked as a schoolteacher.
The prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, with chilling details of the abuse presented in court. The victim, who bravely testified, revealed that the defendant had “sucked her bosom and penetrated her honeypot.” This account was supported by the testimony of the first prosecution witness.
Delivering judgment, Justice Soladoye said:
“You descended so low by having oral sex with your victim. Your action is barbaric.”
