A tragic case in Warri, Delta State, has raised new concerns about the safety of online interactions, following the mysterious death of a young woman, identified simply as Brenda. The incident has sparked widespread reaction on social media as reports emerged that Brenda passed away shortly after visiting a man she met on TikTok.
According to reports from local media and eyewitness accounts, Brenda had been chatting with a TikTok user known as Emmypounds for just three days before accepting his invitation to spend the night at his apartment located along Jakpa Road, Warri. When Brenda became unreachable for several days, alarm bells were raised among friends and family.
A close friend, who had access to her TikTok messages through another device, discovered the visit and notified her family. After a frantic search, Brenda was found unconscious, bruised, and wearing adult diapers, indicating a loss of bodily control. She remained unresponsive until she sadly passed away without being able to explain what happened.
The man in question, Emmypounds, was taken into custody and interrogated. He claimed Brenda fell ill and was taken to a hospital. Delta State Police PRO, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest but stated that the case is not currently being treated as a homicide. Preliminary investigations suggest generator fume inhalation may have been the cause of death, as Emmypounds also showed signs of fume exposure.
Brenda has since been buried. The police investigation is ongoing as the public awaits further developments.
