A shocking case of domestic violence has rocked Onicha Ngwa community in Abia State after a 40-year-old man, Udochi Amala, set his family ablaze over alleged infidelity suspicions.
The incident occurred between 1-2am on Saturday when Amala doused his wife Amarachi, their three children (including a one-year-old daughter), and himself with fuel before igniting the fire. Tragically, one child has died from severe burns while the mother and two other children remain in critical condition.

According to police reports, Amala - who resides in Amapuihe village, Osisioma LGA - attempted to flee but was apprehended. In a chilling confession, he stated: "I have an issue with my wife...I did not know it would get to this extent. I am tired of this life." Shockingly, he admitted never catching his Ikwuano-born wife with another man.
Abia Police PRO DSP Maureen Chinaka confirmed: "Yes, the Police are aware. Investigation is ongoing."
The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Abia branch expressed outrage, calling it "a gross violation of human rights and dignity." In a statement signed by Chairperson Njideka Aniawonwa, FIDA demanded justice and better protection for domestic violence survivors.
