Authorities in Kwara State are on high alert after nine inmates escaped from a juvenile correctional facility in a late-night breach. The incident, which occurred under unclear circumstances, has raised concerns about security lapses in Nigeria’s detention centers.  

Prison officials reported that the escapees, all minors, exploited a vulnerability in the facility’s perimeter fencing. While some were detained for minor offenses, others were held for more serious crimes. A joint task force comprising police, vigilantes, and local hunters has been mobilized to recapture the fugitives.  

Kwara State’s Commissioner for Justice confirmed the incident, assuring the public that security agencies are working tirelessly to locate the juveniles. "We urge residents to remain calm but vigilant," he stated. "Anyone with information should contact the authorities immediately."
