A tragic incident in Ondo State has sparked controversy as the family of a deceased suspect alleges that operatives of the Amotekun Corps tortured their relative to death. The suspect, who was arrested for alleged cult-related activities, reportedly fell ill while in detention and subsequently died.

According to the family, the suspect was in good health prior to his arrest, and they believe that his death was a result of torture inflicted by the security outfit. They are demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise.

In response, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps denied the allegations, stating that the suspect was not tortured and that he took ill during detention. He emphasized that the corps operates within the confines of the law and respects human rights.

The incident has raised concerns about the conduct of security agencies and the need for transparency and accountability in their operations. Human rights organizations have called for an independent investigation to ascertain the facts and ensure justice is served.
