Episode 3: His Unforgiving Rules
Alejandro Ruiz wasn’t the same man who had stood at the altar earlier that day.
His face had darkened, his eyes colder, and a tension hung around him that made it difficult for Camila to breathe.
Was this the same man who had promised her parents, “Trust me, I will take care of your princess”?
He cut through the silence with a voice like ice. "Let's make something clear.
Read Story - Tears of a Silent Struggle
This marriage is a business deal, and I only agreed to it because I need your father's support. Don't expect anything more from me."
Camila opened her mouth to protest, but words failed her, so she only nodded.
“Rule number one: Don’t touch what isn’t yours,” he said, his tone hard and unwavering.
Her eyebrows furrowed, confusion and anger bubbling up inside her.
What did he mean by that? She was no stranger to wealth, yet here she was being treated like an outsider in a place she should call home.
“Rule number two: What happens in the Ruiz estate stays in the Ruiz estate. No gossiping about our affairs,” he added, his gaze piercing through her.
“Rule number three: You are not to touch me—under any circumstances,” he stated coldly, eyes narrowing.
Camila’s blood boiled.
Who does he think he is? But she kept her composure, only offering a stiff nod.
“Rule number four: Stay out of my business.
Whether I’m in a good mood or not, it’s none of your concern.”
His words were as sharp as his gaze, and for the first time, Camila truly questioned what she had gotten herself into.
“And lastly, rule number five: Break these rules, and there will be consequences,” he said, gripping her chin, forcing her to look into his eyes.
They were cold, devoid of any warmth she had once known.
"Consequences?" she whispered, her heart racing.
Alejandro’s lips curled into a smirk as his gaze lingered on her.
His eyes trailed from her lips to the neckline of her dress, his thoughts lingering on the power he held over her.
But he held back, knowing there was time to make her feel the weight of his dominance.
“Consequences,” he repeated softly, drawing her closer, his breath warm against her ear.
Camila’s body tensed, her pulse quickening. She wasn’t sure if it was fear or something else entirely.
Alejandro leaned in, whispering, “You’ll regret it if you break my rules.” He stepped back abruptly and got out of the car without another word, leaving her breathless and disoriented.
The Grand Entrance
A few moments later, Camila gathered herself, took her bags from the trunk, and trudged toward the mansion’s grand staircase.
The weight of her luggage—one box filled with clothes and accessories, the other with her beauty products—matched the heaviness in her heart.
Where were the maids? Surely, they had help here?
When she finally entered the estate, it took her breath away. Every inch of the place screamed opulence—gold, marble, and mirrors reflecting the shimmering lights from chandeliers.
But the grandeur did little to ease the tension gnawing at her.
“Welcome back, Mr. Ruiz,” a line of maids greeted Alejandro with a rehearsed bow.
Without acknowledging them, he tossed his jacket to one of the maids, his attention focused elsewhere.
Camila struggled with her luggage, irritation bubbling up inside her. Really? No one’s going to help me?
“Lead her to her room,” Alejandro instructed one of the maids, as though she were an afterthought.
One maid approached, bowing slightly. “Shall I assist you, ma’am?”
Camila gave her a grateful smile, but before she could respond, Alejandro’s cold voice cut through the air. “Lily, you work for me, not her. Do as you're told.”
The maid visibly flinched. “I thought since—”
“You’re fired,” Alejandro said sharply. “I don’t tolerate disobedience. Leave tonight.”
Camila’s stomach churned.
She couldn’t believe he would dismiss someone so heartlessly for trying to help.
She wanted to speak up but remembered the rules he had just laid out.
Any resistance now could lead to consequences she wasn’t ready to face. Instead, she watched as Lily left in tears.
Another maid silently led Camila to her room without offering to carry the luggage.
Camila didn’t ask for help either, not wanting anyone else to lose their job.
She felt trapped, powerless, and completely out of place in the mansion.
The Morning After
The next morning, the piercing sound of her phone woke her up.
Camila stretched, her arms aching from carrying the heavy luggage the night before.
It was her sister, Isabella.
“Sis! How was your first night as a married woman? Did anything... happen?” Isabella’s voice was teasing, but it was the last thing Camila wanted to hear.
She rolled her eyes as she answered, “Isa, can you give me a break?”
In the background, she could hear her mom bustling around the kitchen, Sofia’s voice gently scolding Isabella for prying.
It was a familiar sound, one that made Camila miss the simplicity of her life before this marriage of convenience.
