Paul Scholes Slams Ten Hag’s Signings of Onana and De Ligt as Below Man Utd Standard

Former Manchester United star Paul Scholes has openly criticized manager Erik ten Hag for the signings of goalkeeper Andre Onana and defender Matthijs de Ligt.

Scholes believes both players fall short of Manchester United's standards and are unsuited to Ten Hag’s playing style.

Onana, signed from Inter Milan for £47 million, has struggled to impress at Old Trafford, conceding five goals in just three Premier League games this season.

Meanwhile, De Ligt, signed from Bayern Munich for £43 million, has only started once this season in a 3-0 loss to Liverpool.

Scholes argues that while Ten Hag’s vision may include playing from the back, the players he has signed aren’t equipped to execute that strategy.
