Nigerian Military Issues Stern Warning Against Coup Calls

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has issued a strong warning against calls for a change of government. 

Speaking after a National Security Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu, Musa emphasized the military's commitment to democracy.

“Nigeria is a democratic nation, and all security agencies are here to defend democracy,” Musa stated. He warned those advocating for a coup to desist, highlighting that any action against the democratic government will not be tolerated.

Sunday PUNCH had previously reported concerns from former envoys and ex-military officers about demonstrators waving Russian flags, which was seen as a provocative act.
