Nancy Isime Explains Relying on Inner Intuition Over Pastor Directives for Her Faith

Highly celebrated Nollywood actress, media personality, and fitness enthusiast Nancy Isime has stirred up massive conversations across social media platforms after opening up about her unconventional spiritual walk, explicitly stating that she is not a “typical Nigerian Christian.”

Speaking candidly during a recent high-profile interview with digital content creator Jay On-Air, the award-winning movie star explained that her religious beliefs are rooted entirely in direct internal intuition, personal autonomy, and an unyielding connection with Jesus, rather than blindly relying on institutional pastors or human priests for absolute life direction.

The screen diva emphasized that her faith is entirely devoid of societal pretense or religious conformity.

She maintained that she does not feel an institutional need to perform righteous acts for public validation because her primary devotion is directed to the divine rather than mortal leaders.

"I don’t serve mortals. So, I don’t have the need to perform for mortals," Isime declared unequivocally during the broadcast segment.

"And I would always have a mind of my own. I would always do my own thing. I would always figure out God for myself. But of course, I have anchors, whom I listen to; preachers like Apostle Joshua Selman.

When you understand the kind of preachers I listen to, you will understand where I am coming from. I am not your typical Nigerian Christian, and I don’t want to be.

I have my own mindset just like Jesus."

While asserting her independence from conventional organized religious structures in Nigeria, Isime clarified that she still values deep theological teaching.

She highlighted respected Christian figures like Apostle Joshua Selman of Eternity Network International (ENI) as spiritual anchors whose profound, message-driven teachings heavily align with her progressive worldview.

Her bold statements have ignited a wide-ranging debate across the Nigerian digital space, splitting opinions between fans praising her individualistic approach to spirituality and traditionalists defending conventional church governance.
