"Results Were Doctored in Our Absence": ADC Chieftain Kalu Kalu Alleges Gross Electoral Fraud in Ekiti Gubernatorial Election on Channels TV
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and member of the party's legal team, Barrister Kalu Kalu, has fiercely defended the party's performance in the recently concluded Ekiti State gubernatorial election. He maintained that the ADC would have cleanly won the election if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had delivered a free, fair, and credible process.
Appearing on Channels Television, Kalu clashed with the program anchor over discrepancies recorded on the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal, where a significant majority of the uploaded polling unit results completely lacked signatures from ADC party agents.
The Agent Coverage Controversy: 2,445 Units Accounted For?
The interview grew tense when the anchor confronted Kalu with concrete data pulled straight from the front page of INEC's IReV portal, pointing out that an analysis of the uploaded documents revealed that ADC agents had only signed roughly one-fifth (20%) of the polling unit sheets.
The anchor questioned whether the party had actually failed to deploy agents, noting that even institutional giants like the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) routinely struggle to achieve 100% agent coverage across thousands of polling stations nationwide.
Channels TV Anchor: "If you had party agents across all the polling units... and your own candidates did not sign... Are you saying that they all conspired? Because it seems from the records here that your agents were not represented at all the polling units."
"Blank Spaces Mean Doctored Data"
Rejecting the assertion that the ADC lacked structural footprint or that its agents mutinied, Kalu argued that the missing signatures on the IReV sheets serve as primary evidence that the numbers were written up covertly without the party’s field officers present.
"That's to tell you the level of rigging that took place in the state," Kalu fired back. "The figure you just mentioned now—that our agent did not sign—means those result sheets were prepared at the back, or in the absence of our polling unit agents! There is no serious political party going into a serious contest that will not have agents across the state."
Internal Instructions to the Legal Field Team
Kalu revealed that as part of the core ADC legal unit, specific structural protocols had been given to all deployed field representatives before voting commenced. Agents were explicitly ordered to sign any results provided to them to ensure the legal team had copies for post-election forensic evaluation.
"I'm part of the legal team of ADC. We instructed all our agents: 'Please sign, get the result. Don't reject any result. Sign and bring it so that we will do an evaluation of all the result sheets we have, and know whether the election was free and transparent.' So for you to come and say that some of the results uploaded were not signed by our agents shows that those results were concocted. They were doctored at the back in the absence of our polling unit agents."
