Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has opened up about the "difficult" transition she faced when moving back to Nigeria in 2012 to pursue a career in the local music industry.
Previously a backup singer for international star Mary J. Blige, Savage admitted that her R&B background made it challenging to adapt to the "street sounds" of the burgeoning Nigerian scene.

In a recent interview on Arise TV, Savage credited her former label boss, Don Jazzy, with reshaping her musical perspective. “Don Jazzy opened my mind to so many different things.
He took me out of that R&B bubble and introduced me to other sounds,” she explained. Savage, who signed with Mavin Records upon her return, stated she has no regrets about the switch, noting that Don Jazzy made her believe her talent was "limitless."
