Real Madrid winger Vinícius Júnior has once again proven why he is considered the heartbeat of the Spanish giants.
The Brazilian international netted two stunning second-half goals on Sunday to secure a vital 2-0 victory over Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium, effectively preventing arch-rivals Barcelona from clinching the LaLiga title this weekend.
The stakes were incredibly high for Los Blancos; a failure to secure all three points would have officially crowned Barcelona as champions.
However, strikes from Vinícius, assisted by Jude Bellingham and Gonzalo García, kept the gap at 11 points with four matches remaining.
Speaking after the match, Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa was full of praise for his star forward. "He played another great game and scored two great goals," Arbeloa stated during his post-match news conference.
"He was the leader in attack, a total threat. Every time he got the ball he was aggressive, intelligent, brave, and constant. He's a fantastic player, a born leader."
The press conference also touched on the absence of Kylian Mbappé, who is currently sidelined with an injury.
Arbeloa defended the Frenchman's recent holiday, noting that all recovery plans are supervised by the club's medical staff.
