The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded a significant victory in the fight against insurgency following a successful precision airstrike in Katsina State.
The operation, which took place on May 1, targeted a notorious terrorist enclave located within the Dan-Aji Forest in the Faskari Local Government Area.
According to a statement released on Sunday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, the strike successfully dismantled a logistics hub.
This hub was linked to a high-profile terrorist kingpin, Abasu Aiki, whose group has been terrorizing the Funtua, Kankara, and Faskari axes.
Reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) confirm that the operation was carried out under the "Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma."
“NAF air assets identified armed terrorists on motorcycles alongside other fighters within the enclave and executed a coordinated strike,” Ejodame stated.
He further noted that the strike triggered massive explosions and fires, confirming the destruction of vital structures and the neutralization of several fighters.
This latest development highlights the military's ongoing commitment to clearing terrorist hideouts and restoring peace to the northern region of Nigeria.
