BET Awards 2026 Nominations: Wizkid, Tems, Asake, and Burna Boy Top the Prestigious International List



The global cultural dominance of the Nigerian music industry has achieved fresh international verification following the official unveiling of the nominations for the highly anticipated 2026 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.


Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid, Burna Boy, Asake, and Tems have all scored major nominations across multiple competitive categories. 


The annual celebration of Black excellence is officially scheduled to take place live in Los Angeles, California, on June 28, 2026. 


This year's star-studded live broadcast will be hosted by popular American comedian and digital media star Druski, airing live internationally on BET.

Following the massive commercial success of their recent collaborative singles and chart-topping musical rollouts, YNBL megastar Asake and Starboy maestro Wizkid locked down a highly coveted nomination in the Best Group category, highlighting their rare creative chemistry.


Meanwhile, vocal powerhouse Tems emerged as one of the most celebrated continental nominees of the year, hauling in a total of three distinct nominations. 


Tems was shortlisted for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, the BET Her Award for her hit track "First," and the Viewers’ Choice Award for her explosive international collaboration, "Raindance," featuring British lyricist Dave.


Not to be outdone, Grammy-winning giant Burna Boy earned a nomination in the  Best Collaboration category for his stellar guest appearance on American rapper Gunna’s chart-topping summer anthem titled "WGFT." 


The multiple nods underscore Nollywood and the wider Nigerian entertainment ecosystem's continued influence over the global mainstream music charts.
