Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has expressed deep dissatisfaction with the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that he and his supporters were "not recognized" despite delivering nearly two million votes in 2015.
Speaking on Arise TV, Kwankwaso noted that the failure to see benefits for his individual supporters or his constituency drove his recent move toward the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Kwankwaso, who recently joined forces with Peter Obi under the NDC banner on May 3, argued that the country is now ready for a "grassroots change" after years of leadership failures.

He reviewed previous administrations from Obasanjo to Tinubu, concluding that regional representation does not guarantee quality governance.
According to Qubes Magazine, Kwankwaso has formally endorsed zoning the NDC’s 2027 presidential ticket to the South.
He emphasized that the country needs "quality leadership" rather than a president simply because they are from a specific region, citing the growth of NDC offices worldwide as a sign that Nigerians are hungry for a new political direction.
