Imo Security Alert: Police Deploy Violent Crime Response Unit After Foiled Abduction


Imo State Police Command tactical vehicle patrolling Owerri West LG after a failed kidnapping



The Imo State Police Command has significantly increased security presence in Owerri West Local Government Area following a failed abduction attempt on Wednesday night. 

Suspected gunmen attempted to kidnap a resident along the Umuokwo Ihiagwa/Eziobodo Road, but were repelled by the combined efforts of police operatives, local vigilantes, and a large number of mobilizing residents.

One victim sustained a gunshot wound during the encounter and is currently receiving medical treatment.

In response to the threat, Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso has ordered the immediate deployment of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) along with other tactical and intelligence teams to safeguard the affected communities.

According to Qubes Magazine, the command has launched an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators. 

Residents have been urged to remain calm but vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest station as the police intensify proactive patrols to prevent future occurrences in the Eziobodo and Ihiagwa axis.
