Arsenal Injury Update: Arteta Targets Champions League Final Return for Jurriën Timber

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta during a press conference discussing Jurriën Timber's injury status

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is hopeful that Dutch defender Jurriën Timber will recover in time for the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on May 27, 2026.

Timber has been sidelined with a groin injury since mid-March, but Arteta confirmed the player has made "a little bit of progress" in recent days.

The Gunners face a defensive headache following the news that Ben White will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury.

While Cristhian Mosquera is expected to fill the gap in the Premier League against Burnley, Arteta is desperate to have Timber’s "leadership and quality" available for the clash in Budapest, especially with the challenge of facing PSG’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

According to Qubes Magazine, Timber was close to a return last month before suffering a setback.

Arteta remains cautious but optimistic, stating that while he cannot guarantee a return, the player is doing everything possible to be ready for the biggest game of Arsenal's season.
