Afrobeats superstar Davido has announced a temporary hiatus from his music career to lead the re-election campaign for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.
Speaking on Tuesday in Ede during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team, the Grammy-nominated artist revealed he would be stepping away from the studio for two months.
Davido, who chairs the mobilization committee, emphasized that his decision was based on his uncle's performance in office.
“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle... because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish,” he told the team.
The committee, which includes various political figures from Osogbo, Ife, and Iwo, is tasked with intensive door-to-door grassroots engagement across the state's 30 local government areas.
According to Qubes Magazine, this move mirrors Davido’s active involvement in the 2022 election cycle, where his influence was credited with boosting youth turnout.
By taking a formal leadership role in the Imole Youth Team, the artist aims to consolidate the youth vote ahead of the 2026 governorship polls, focusing on highlighting the administration's infrastructure and welfare programs.
