Grammy-nominated Nigerian superstar Davido has expressed deep reservations about transitioning from music into the political arena.
Speaking during a recent Twitch livestream with streamer Davrel, the "Timeless" singer admitted that while he once harbored political ambitions, he is now weighing the risks to his hard-earned reputation.
Davido noted that many entertainers who make the leap into governance often struggle to find success or maintain their previous goodwill.
He emphasized that the transition is "tricky" because of how the public perceives superstars once they enter the business of politics.
“Before, I wanted to go into politics but honestly, now, I see it two ways. All my years of goodwill, my name and my career, all the hard work and the fan base we have built, it is tricky... the superstars that have gone into politics, the transition hasn’t really been successful,” Davido stated.
The singer concluded that he currently views politics as a specialized "business" best left to those already in the field, prioritizing his global music legacy over a seat in office.
