"I Will Never Be Intimidated" – Seun Okinbaloye Reacts to Wike’s Violent Rhetoric

Seun Okinbaloye Channels TV anchor responding to Nyesom Wike threats

Channels Television anchor, Seun Okinbaloye, has broken his silence following controversial remarks made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The Minister had previously sparked outrage after suggesting he would have "shot" the broadcaster over comments regarding the dangers of a one-party system in Nigeria.

Speaking on Sunday, Okinbaloye stood his ground, emphasizing that violent rhetoric has no place in a democratic setting.

While he acknowledged a follow-up call from the Minister to clarify his intent, the journalist maintained that the role of the media is to hold power to account without fear.

"Let me be clear: I am not afraid and I will never be intimidated. We may disagree and as humans we may err, but dissent must never descend into hostility or harm," Okinbaloye stated during a broadcast.

The exchange follows a report by Amnesty International, which condemned the Minister's language as "reckless."

Okinbaloye reaffirmed his commitment to asking tough questions to ensure Nigeria's democracy remains vibrant and multi-party.
