Borno State Police burial ceremony for officers killed in Nganzai terrorist attack Maiduguri



The Borno State Police Command has held a solemn interment ceremony for four gallant officers killed during a coordinated terrorist attack in the Nganzai Local Government Area. 


The officers—two Inspectors and two Constables—lost their lives while successfully repelling an onslaught by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP members on April 4, 2026.

According to a statement from the Command’s PRO, ASP Nahum Daso, the fallen heroes include Inspector Samuel Ezekiel, Inspector Sanusi Mohammed, PC Bitrus Luka, and PC Shaibu Bukar. 


They were buried at the Kawar Maila and Maximum Prison Burial Grounds in Maiduguri in accordance with religious rites.


“The command honours their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to duty,” Daso stated, noting that the attackers utilized Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs) during the fierce gun battle.


As reported by Punch, the terrorists also targeted an IDP camp in Damasak, where one local hunter was killed and several properties destroyed. 


State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, attended the funeral to pay final respects to the men who died defending the state.
