Singer Asake Opens Up on Relationship Strain After Father Opposed His Music Career
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has shared emotional details regarding his early struggles with family acceptance.
Speaking in a recent candid interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the "Sungba" crooner revealed that his father was staunchly against his decision to pursue a career in the music industry, leading to a significant rift between them.
Asake explained that while he was very close to his father during his childhood, the relationship turned cold when it was time to choose a career path.
According to the singer, he had to make the difficult choice to leave home against his father's wishes to chase his musical ambitions.
"My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless," Asake stated during the interview.
This revelation follows a public controversy in March 2025, where his father, Fatai Odunsi, reportedly accused the singer of neglect.
However, the duo has since reconciled, with Asake taking full responsibility for his father's welfare, proving that success eventually bridged the gap created by their initial career disagreement.
