Veteran actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has finally addressed the long-rumored feud with her colleague Genevieve Nnaji, dismissing it as a media-created misconception and confirming they maintain a normal relationship.
In an interview on Yanga FM, Omotola explained that fans and media often pitted them against each other, creating unnecessary tension, especially during their early years as leading stars. She clarified that while they aren't best friends, there is no animosity.
“People don’t need to be best friends, but we talked. Like behind film, we dey talk normally,” Omotola stated, mixing English and Pidgin for emphasis.
She attributed the rumors to industry pressures and the tendency to create rival narratives. “You know how the industry is. Them go pitch you against this person, talk say na this one be the hottest girl, na that one be the hottest girl. So, those kind tension go dey normally, but people they read am as other things.”
Omotola humorously noted that they were the pioneers of such "beef" narratives in Nollywood, a trend later seen among music stars. “Really, na them start the quarrel before we know say we dey quarrel. So, we have to catch up with the quarrel. There was no quarrel.”
Her comments put to rest years of speculation about a rift between two of Nollywood's most iconic actresses, suggesting that any perceived tension was amplified by external narratives rather than a genuine personal conflict.
