The Niger State Police Command has arrested a student of the Niger State School of Nursing and Midwifery, Stella Joseph, following the mysterious death of a lecturer, Engr. Dr. Otori Abdulfatai Aiyede, in her residence in Minna. According to a report by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred on January 27, 2026.
The lecturer from the Federal Polytechnic Bida had visited the student to introduce himself as her new lecturer at Newgate University. During the visit, the suspect served him spaghetti and egg. Shortly after the meal, he began convulsing and collapsed.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tudun-Wada Division led a team to the scene, and the victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Minna, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. His body has been deposited in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The suspect, Stella Joseph, is currently in police custody as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the lecturer's sudden death are ongoing. The case has sent shockwaves through the academic community in Minna.
