A police officer has been killed and another injured after unknown attackers invaded the official residence of the Divisional Police Officer in Aujara, Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The attack happened around midnight when the assailants arrived unexpectedly and overpowered the officers on duty.
According to reports from the area, the late officer, Police Constable Nura Garba Jahun, was rushed to Jahun General Hospital but was confirmed dead. He has already been buried according to Islamic rites. The second officer on duty sustained injuries during the attack.
Family members said they were shocked by the incident.
According to Tribune Online on Monday 1 November, 2025, the father of the deceased, Malam Garba Jahun, described his son as a gentle and disciplined officer who had not spent long in service. He said the family had not yet received full details from the police about what happened.
Community sources explained that nothing was stolen from the DPO’s residence during the attack, raising questions about the motive behind the incident. They said the attackers came, carried out the operation, and left without taking anything.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Command, SP Lawan Shi’isu Adam, said he had not been officially briefed and was only hearing about the case for the first time. The District Head of Aujara, Alhaji Aminu Dankade, also confirmed the killing in a post on his Facebook page.
Police authorities are expected to open a full investigation to uncover those behind the attack.
