Police authorities in Kogi State have launched an urgent manhunt for Oluwapelumi Adebayo, a suspected correctional officer, accused of murdering young photographer Ayo Ayepekun in Lokoja. The suspect allegedly lured Ayepekun to his poultry farm before carrying out the killing.
According to TVC News, Adebayo reportedly concealed the victim’s body in a refrigerator, then loaded it into a van and fled the scene. The motive behind this brutal act remains unknown. Disturbingly, the suspect later returned to the farm, possibly to clean up evidence, but was spotted by local residents and vigilante members.
Upon being seen, Adebayo fled at high speed, prompting the vigilante group to pursue him. They reportedly shot at the van’s tires, causing a crash, but the suspect escaped on foot and remains at large. Both the whereabouts of Adebayo and Ayepekun’s body are currently unknown.
Friends and family of the deceased have called on security agencies to intensify their search and ensure justice is served swiftly. The case has sparked widespread concern over public safety in Lokoja and the surrounding areas.
