Nigerian music executive and entertainment industry heavyweight, Jude Okoye, has ignited a passionate debate on social media after calling for urgent reforms to Nigeria’s electoral laws. In a post shared via his Instagram story on Thursday, July 25, 2025, the elder brother to the famous Psquare duo argued that a university Bachelor’s degree should be the minimum qualification for political office.
“How hard is it to reform our electoral act, making at least a Uni Bachelor’s degree a benchmark for qualification to run for any office in Nigeria?” Jude wrote.
He added, “We can’t have the uneducated leading the educated. It makes zero sense.”
Okoye’s comments have since gone viral, with many Nigerians echoing similar sentiments. The call for electoral reform has become increasingly louder among citizens demanding higher standards of accountability, competence, and education from political leaders.
