Former tennis world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic has officially divorced ex-footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger, ending their nine-year marriage. The separation was confirmed by Ivanovic’s lawyer, Christian Schertz, who cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind the split.
The couple, once celebrated as a power duo in the sports world, had been facing persistent rumors of marital troubles in recent months. They were married in July 2016 in a grand ceremony in Venice and share three children, though only the names of their two sons, Luca and Leon, have been made public.
According to German media reports, Schweinsteiger was seen in June with another woman identified as “Silva,” allegedly connected to him through their children’s school. The two were photographed on vacation in Mallorca, further fueling speculation of infidelity, following earlier sightings in Morocco.
While Schweinsteiger has been immersed in media and punditry commitments, frequently traveling across Europe, Ivanovic is said to have spent increasing time in Serbia, supported by her family in Belgrade.
Their last public appearance was at the Laver Cup in Berlin, followed by a Christmas market photo shared online. However, their public engagements have been minimal since.
Despite their split, the couple has requested privacy. “There will be no further public statements from either party,” Schertz stated. Ivanovic recently made headlines by attending Wimbledon, where she reminisced on her historic semi-final run 18 years ago.
The separation marks the end of an era for a beloved celebrity couple who once blended football fame with tennis glory.
