The incident, which allegedly occurred a few days ago, became public after a viral video showed chaotic scenes aboard the aircraft mid-air.
In a video shared by popular Instagram personality Tunde Ednut, Wike confirmed the experience during a testimony in church. His voice was previously heard in the background of a clip, praying intensely while pilots attempted to stabilize the failing aircraft.
“I was scared for my life. I thought that was the end,” Wike said emotionally during the testimony. “I just kept praying. I knew only God could save us at that point.”

Tunde Ednut captioned the video, saying: “I posted a story yesterday about a private jet that had engine failure, but I didn’t call any names. Well, Wike has finally shared the story himself in church. Hear it straight from the horse’s mouth!”
The original video reportedly showed pilots struggling to regain control, while background voices — including Wike’s — were heard praying and urging calm. The new testimony video now confirms that Wike was indeed onboard and miraculously survived what could have been a tragic accident.
The former Rivers State Governor, now serving in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, emphasized the importance of gratitude, saying, “You never really know what tomorrow holds. I thank God for life.”

As of now, no official statement has been released by aviation authorities regarding the cause of the engine failure. However, the viral nature of the videos and Wike’s own confirmation have sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many praising divine intervention and calling for stricter aviation safety protocols in Nigeria.
