Russian President Vladimir Putin endorses Kamala Harris for the US presidential election amid election influence charges

Russian President Vladimir Putin has thrown his support behind Kamala Harris in the upcoming US presidential election. 

The endorsement comes just a day after the US Justice Department charged two Russian media executives with an illegal plot to influence the election through pro-Russian propaganda.

Putin's support for Harris follows his previous comments in which he sarcastically endorsed President Joe Biden as a more predictable candidate than former President Donald Trump. 

Putin's remarks have further fueled speculations about Russia’s involvement in the US election.

Putin stated, “We will back Kamala Harris in this election, just as President Biden has advised his supporters to do.” He added that the sanctions imposed during Trump's presidency made him a less favorable candidate for Russia compared to Biden, despite earlier preferences.

The Kremlin has continued to deny any involvement in influencing US elections, despite the charges against Russian executives.
