Former Chinese Football Association VP Li Yuyi sentenced to 11 years for accepting bribes in a corruption crackdown.

Li Yuyi, the ex-vice president of the Chinese Football Association, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for accepting bribes. 

According to state news agency Xinhua, Li abused his positions at the Chinese Football Association and the Chinese Football Association Super League Company between 2004 and 2021, accepting over $1.69 million in bribes.

The court also imposed a fine of 1 million yuan ($139,579). Li’s sentencing is part of a broader crackdown on corruption within China’s soccer industry, which has seen several high-profile officials convicted in recent years.
