Adebayo Simon Adewale, the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), made headlines after stepping down from the Osun State gubernatorial race less than 48 hours before the election to publicly endorse incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term.
Adewale announced his decision at a press conference in Osogbo, stating that his withdrawal followed consultations with APM leadership, stakeholders, and his supporters.
He emphasized that putting the peace and development of Osun State ahead of personal political ambitions drove his endorsement, urging his supporters across the state's 30 local government areas to cast their ballots for Governor Adeleke.
The endorsement further consolidated political alignments behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate right before voters headed to the polls.
