Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has revealed that Nigerian international striker Taiwo Awoniyi chose to leave Nottingham Forest for the Sky Blues due to frustration over limited playing time completed a €19.9 million transfer to the CBS Arena ahead of Coventry's Premier League campaign.
Speaking at a press conference before their season opener against Arsenal, Lampard praised Awoniyi’s physical attributes, Premier League experience, and desire to secure regular minutes on the pitch.
Awoniyi faced strong competition for starting spots at Forest alongside Chris Wood and Igor Jesus, prompting his decision to seek a central role in Lampard's newly promoted side.
