Veteran broadcaster Frank Edoho has set the record straight regarding his initial exit from the iconic game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (WWTBAM), denying widespread rumors that he was sacked.
Speaking on The KK Show, Edoho revealed that the show’s original 13-year run came to a halt in 2017 after the lead sponsor, MTN Nigeria, pulled out due to a heavy regulatory penalty imposed by the Federal Government.

The resulting financial strain forced the telecommunications giant to relinquish its decade-long sponsorship, placing the production on hiatus.
Edoho explained that during negotiations with prospective sponsors, he sought an executive producer stake to reflect his 13-year contribution to the franchise. However, contractual disagreements led to a standoff, and false media reports subsequently claimed he had been dropped.
Edoho described the public narrative as a betrayal before he eventually rejoined the revamped show during its 2022 return.
