The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has smashed a deeply disturbing, family-led criminal syndicate operating within Kaduna State, arresting a son who explicitly conspired with gang members to orchestrate the violent abduction of his own wealthy father.
The operational breakdown was released in an official security statement on Wednesday by the high command of the Nigerian police.
Detectives tracking the kidnapping loop apprehended two primary suspects, identified as Yusuf Rabo and Musa Adamu.
According to investigators, the duo actively masterminded the tactical abduction of an elderly local tycoon and livestock owner, Alhaji Rabo Jelani, with the direct insider assistance of the victim’s own grandson, Ali Haruna, who is currently fleeing from law enforcement.
Police intelligence networks established that the inner-family syndicate was highly organized and possessed multiple military-grade firearms.
The gang gained access to lethal firepower when the fleeing grandson, Ali Haruna, allegedly stole an AK-47 rifle belonging to his own father to hand over to the kidnap ring. During the high-stakes tactical arrest, police operatives successfully recovered one AK-47 rifle alongside an empty magazine.
Exposing the inner workings of the extortion plot, the Nigeria Police Force stated:
“Investigations revealed that Yusuf Rabo allegedly conspired with Musa Adamu and Ali Haruna, the victim’s grandson who is currently on the run, to carry out the abduction over claims that the elderly man possessed substantial wealth and livestock.
Findings showed that the victim was kidnapped on different occasions and taken to forest hideouts where ransom negotiations were allegedly handled by Yusuf Rabo.
The first abduction reportedly led to the payment of N2 million ransom, while another operation later generated N4.5 million.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, Ali Haruna, and recover additional weapons and exhibits connected to the crimes.”
Beyond the traumatic multi-stage abductions of Alhaji Jelani, police forensic tracking has linked this specific criminal ring to a string of other violent offenses across the state.
The suspects are heavily tied to the armed interception of a prominent regional merchant known as Mr. Iyke, as well as a series of brutal highway robberies along the Kagoma axis, where multiple daily commuters were stripped of their cash and personal valuables at gunpoint.
The NPF reaffirmed its absolute dedication to completely dismantling armed robbery networks nationwide through sustained, intelligence-led raids.
