Six prominent governorship aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have sent an SOS to President Bola Tinubu, seeking his urgent intervention to stop alleged moves to impose a consensus candidate for the 2027 elections.
In an open letter, the aspirants—including former Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan, Adewale Kolapo Kareem, and others—warned that the party's unity is at stake.
The group accused certain "influential figures" within the state of orchestrating fake endorsement campaigns and using rented crowds to create an illusion of grassroots support.

They argued that these tactics mirror the "errors of 2023" that led to the party’s defeat in the state. The aspirants are calling for a transparent, merit-based primary process rather than a forced consensus.
According to Qubes Magazine, the signatories believe that if the current trajectory of manipulation continues, it could trigger mass defections and voter apathy.
They urged President Tinubu to summon all contenders to a meeting to establish clear directives that ensure internal discipline and fairness ahead of the 2027 polls.
