The Ahoro-Esinele community in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has been plunged into profound mourning following the brutal execution of Mr. Michael Oyedokun, one of the school teachers abducted during a coordinated morning raid on Friday, May 15, 2026.
The tragedy escalated on Monday after a graphic and inhumane video surfaced on the messaging platform Telegram, showing the horrific beheading of Mr. Oyedokun, who worked as a Mathematics teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele.
In the viral footage, the bound educator was forced to speak under clear duress before being killed by his captors.

The development has raised alarming concerns regarding the immediate safety of the remaining hostages, which include school principal Mrs. Rachael Alamu, several colleagues, and at least 45 pupils.
Confirming the execution, the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Dr. Suleimon Olanrewaju, issued an official statement on Monday on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the Oyedokun family and disclosed that joint security operatives have already secured significant breakthroughs on the ground, arresting six local accomplices.
The statement noted:
“Well, from the information available from the Commissioner of Police, about six individuals have been arrested within the locality. Some of them, we believe, are perhaps informants or people running logistics for the terrorists. Also, three individuals of interest have been arrested by another security outfit within the state. So, please, there may not be quick fixes, but we will continue to endeavour to push ourselves to the limit to resolve this quickly.”
The Oyo State government also extended its deepest sympathies to the families of a joint tactical rescue team consisting of Nigerian Army soldiers, Amotekun Corps operatives, and local vigilantes, who tragically lost their lives during an active jungle tracking operation over the weekend.
The operatives were killed after running directly into Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) deliberately planted along the extraction routes by the fleeing terrorists.
Governor Makinde reassured the public that surviving wounded personnel are receiving premium medical treatment at state expense.
He appealed passionately to the victims' relatives, local leaders, and religious bodies to exercise extreme patience, vowing that the state's security apparatus will deploy every available kinetic and non-kinetic strategy line to rescue the remaining seven teachers and children safely.
