In a viral video, Sowore confronted the former minister—who is currently facing EFCC charges for money laundering and unlawful possession of firearms—over the "persecution" Malami now faces from the same system he once managed.

Sowore pointedly remarked, "You see how it feels now to be persecuted... the system is dealing with you." He even mockingly offered Malami an orange "Revolution Now" beret.

Malami, appearing composed, defended his legal standing, stating, "I can never be down... I remain strong." The encounter has sparked a heated debate online regarding the irony of Nigeria’s justice system and the accountability of past public officials.
