President Tinubu Orders Service Chiefs to Relocate to Maiduguri After Recent Terror Attacks
In a decisive move to curb the recent surge of violence in Northeast Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has directed the nation’s service chiefs to immediately relocate to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The directive, announced on Tuesday via presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, aims to provide direct oversight of security operations following coordinated attacks on military and civilian positions.
Expressing profound sadness over the loss of lives in the Monday attacks, the President described the resurgence of violence as the "final desperate and frantic attempts" of terrorist elements under pressure from the Nigerian Armed Forces.
“I want to make it categorically clear that these acts of terror are the final desperate attempts by criminals... trying to instil and spread fear. We will continue to intensify our efforts against all criminal elements, wherever they may be,” Tinubu stated.
The President further revealed that he has approved additional equipment and operational support to enhance the capabilities of intelligence and security agencies.
While commending the "fighting spirit" of the troops who repelled the recent strikes, Tinubu emphasized that there is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety.
In addition to the military directive, the President has ordered emergency agencies to ensure the injured receive proper medical care, asserting that Nigeria will not succumb to fear in the face of these "evil-minded" groups.
