Afrobeats sensation Omah Lay has shared intimate details of a recent heartbreak, revealing that a two-month relationship ended abruptly while he was attending the 2025 Grammy Awards in early February.
Speaking at the listening party for his forthcoming album, 'Clarity of Mind,' the singer disclosed that he genuinely believed the relationship had long-term potential and even contemplated having a child with the woman.
"Every time I fall in love, I lose myself. While I was at the Grammy and Justin Bieber was performing, I was having a breakup and an embarrassing moment," Omah Lay revealed.
The singer admitted that the emotional turmoil prevented him from being present at music's biggest night. "While I was at the Grammys, I was not present because even before the show I had already started having issues in my relationship.
And this was only a two-month-old relationship. But I thought it was the right relationship and I was going to have a baby," he said.
Omah Lay attributed his struggles with balancing romance and music to his tendency to focus intensely on one thing at a time, citing this personal challenge as the inspiration for his song 'Don't Love Me.'
"I don't know how to do two things at time. When I am into one thing, all of me is into that. So, I wasn't even present at the Grammys. I didn't even enjoy anything," he explained.
The singer elaborated on the meaning behind his music, stating: "So my song 'Don't Love Me' is me saying girl, let's enjoy this moment but as soon as I find another thing that gives me pleasure, I'm going to leave."
Fans have eagerly anticipated Omah Lay's upcoming album, and his candid revelations about personal struggles have added depth to the narrative surrounding his new music.
'Clarity of Mind' is expected to explore themes of love, loss, and self-discovery, drawing from the singer's real-life experiences.
