"This Country is Burning" — Mr Real Criticizes Nigerian Artists for Ignoring National Insecurity
Popular Afrobeats singer Mr Real, best known for his hit single "Legbegbe," has sparked a heated debate online after publicly criticizing his colleagues and music fans.
In a recent video broadcast, the artist expressed deep concern over the apparent "insensitivity" of the Nigerian entertainment industry, which continues to release new music and host lavish club nights despite the escalating security crisis across the nation.
Mr Real revealed that the current mood of the country has left him emotionally unable to release new material.
He questioned the mindset of fellow musicians who can maintain a "business as usual" attitude while citizens face daily tragedies.
“I wake up to terrible news everyday. I am even scared to drop songs because of the terrible things happening in Nigeria," Mr Real stated. "Artists who are releasing songs are trying because I don’t know the kind of mind they have. How do some artists do it?"
The singer further lamented that Nigerians might be under a "spell of docility," as the culture of partying continues unabated despite the loss of lives.
He urged both artists and fans to reflect on whether it is normal to remain indifferent to the "business of insecurity" currently plaguing the state.
