Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo will not feature in Portugal’s upcoming international friendly matches against the United States and Mexico.
The decision was made public on Friday following high-level discussions between his club, Al Nassr, and the Portugal national team medical staff.
According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 41-year-old forward is still undergoing rehabilitation for an undisclosed injury.
Both parties agreed that prioritizing his full recovery is essential to avoid further complications as Portugal prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the USA.
“Priority to full recovery after discussions between Al Nassr and Portugal backroom staff,” Romano’s report confirmed.
Despite the injury setback, Ronaldo has remained in sensational form for Al Nassr this season, netting 22 goals across all competitions.
Portugal is scheduled to face Mexico on March 28 and the United States on March 31.
These fixtures serve as critical warm-ups for the veteran striker’s final push toward what is expected to be his last World Cup appearance.
