Suspected terrorists have abducted six members of a single family in Gare Village, Madagali Local Government Area, the hometown of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, with the assailants also rustling livestock.
Confirming the incident, the Adamawa State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, stated that security operatives have launched a joint search-and-rescue operation. “The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Gare Village, Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, in the early hours of today by suspected terrorists, which led to the abduction of six family members,” Nguroje said in a statement.
He detailed that the command intensified collaboration immediately upon receiving the report, deploying additional personnel in a joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, troops of the 144 Battalion, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has ordered sustained operations, reinforced patrols, and heightened security across Madagali and other border communities to ensure the victims' safe rescue and prevent further attacks.
This incident adds to a spate of violent attacks in Adamawa State. It comes on the same day Governor Fintiri commenced a tour of all 21 local government areas to assess the security situation firsthand. The state has recently witnessed deadly attacks in Hong LGA and a communal clash in Lamurde LGA that claimed over 20 lives earlier this year.
Security forces remain committed to containing the threat and restoring stability in the region.
