Aston Villa have completed the signing of England striker Tammy Abraham from Turkish club Besiktas for £18.25 million. The 28-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal, returning to the Premier League club where he enjoyed a successful loan spell in the 2018-19 season, scoring 26 goals to help secure promotion.
The move sees Abraham return to English football for the first time since his £34 million transfer from Chelsea to Roma in 2021. Villa manager Unai Emery had been seeking a striker to support Ollie Watkins and has long admired Abraham.
“Some clubs play a big part in your journey and stay with you,” Abraham said upon his return. “I've scored goals, faced challenges, and grown as a player and as a man. I'm back at Aston Villa, ready to work and give everything.”
The deal involved Villa paying Besiktas a fee of €21 million (£18.25m), after the Turkish club activated their £11 million buy option from Roma just a day prior. As part of the agreement, Villa teenager Yasin Ozcan will move to Besiktas.
Abraham, who won the UEFA Conference League with Roma, brings European pedigree and a desire to reclaim his place in the England squad ahead of the summer's World Cup. He could make his second debut for Villa against Brentford on Sunday but is ineligible for their Europa League clash this Thursday.
