A tragic incident occurred on Saturday, June 7, in Lagos State, as a female pedestrian lost her life after being struck by a speeding vehicle. The accident happened at the Mosalasi Roundabout along New Ipaja Road in the Ipaja area.

The vehicle involved, a black Toyota Tundra with plate number FST 222 HV, reportedly veered off the road at high speed. It mounted the pedestrian walkway, fatally striking the victim. Eyewitnesses said the woman died instantly on impact.
According to reports, the vehicle didn’t stop after hitting the pedestrian but crashed into a nearby livestock shop, causing significant damage to the business’s perimeter fence and a large billboard.

Onlookers quickly alerted authorities, and operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) intervened to apprehend the fleeing driver. He was immediately handed over to officers from the Gowon Estate Police Command, who are now conducting a full investigation into the incident.
The remains of the deceased have since been transferred to the appropriate authorities for further processing and eventual identification.
Confirming the tragic occurrence, the General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed profound sadness over the incident. In a statement, he said:
“This is a deeply sorrowful occurrence that underscores the grave consequences of reckless driving. We mourn with the family of the deceased and pray earnestly that the Almighty grants them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
